Job Summary

NBCUniversal’s Enterprise Technology Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team enhances system reliability by preventing failures through automation and standardization, ensuring platforms and services are always available. Using data-driven methods, they prioritize reliability tasks to reduce manual work and system downtime across NBCUniversal’s extensive brand portfolio.

The ServiceNow Platform Development Manager will lead the development and implementation of the SRE ServiceNow platform roadmap. Working closely with SRE and other teams, this role manages the full software development lifecycle using Agile, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality ServiceNow solutions.

The ideal candidate should have deep knowledge of ServiceNow Agile development, operational support, DevOps tools, ITSM principles, and experience in IT/infrastructure management, monitoring, automation, and application support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead ServiceNow solution development aligned with business goals and best practices.

  • Manage and mentor software developers, fostering a high-performing team environment.

  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and professional growth of team members.

  • Define coding standards and best practices to ensure quality and maintainability.

  • Identify opportunities to grow team skills and capabilities.

  • Resolve development challenges to meet deadlines and goals.

  • Collaborate with leaders and IT teams to ensure excellent customer experiences.

  • Manage vendor relationships and coordinate system enhancements and upgrades.

  • Drive continuous innovation and improvements in processes and solutions.

  • Analyze processes to find automation and efficiency gains.

  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs).

  • Translate product requirements into clear technical specifications.

  • Keep updated on emerging technologies and trends to enhance platform capabilities.

  • Ensure solutions follow ServiceNow best practices.

  • Advocate for minimizing customizations by leveraging out-of-the-box features.

  • Help shape product vision and long-term roadmap.

  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and manage operational support for ongoing improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.

  • 10+ years of ServiceNow experience across ITSM, ITAM, SecOps, GRC, and TPRM.

  • 5+ years leading software or application development teams.

  • Strong expertise in ServiceNow architecture, workflows, custom apps, and integrations.

  • Experience managing large, complex projects successfully.

  • Proficiency in scripting (JavaScript, Glide) and frameworks (HTML, CSS, AngularJS, SASS, Bootstrap).

  • Solid understanding of CMDB, asset, incident, problem, and change management.

  • Experience with REST/SOAP APIs and ServiceNow Integration Hub.

  • Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, Kanban, testing (including automated testing), CI/CD, and release management.

  • Excellent communication skills for technical and business audiences.

  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of working independently or collaboratively.

  • Ability to understand complex business needs and adapt solutions accordingly.

  • Willingness to learn new tools relevant to Site Reliability Engineering and ITSM.

Preferred:

  • Comfortable leading technical and organizational initiatives.

  • Experience with large global companies.

  • ServiceNow certifications (Implementation Specialist, System Administrator, Application Developer).

  • Experience with App Engine Studio and Citizen Developers.

  • Knowledge of SRE principles and automation tools like Ansible and Puppet.
